![]() ![]() “Shrek: The Musical” has the same storyline as in the first film of Shrek and Donkey agreeing to free Princess Fiona from aĬastle guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. “I feel that the movie had some very funny moments and some serious moments, and that’s my kind of movie.” Price remembers seeing the movie with his grandfather. “I will run off stage and have three to four people attack me with green paint to become an ogre,” she says. “It was so much fun, and I’ve always been imaginative, so putting this story into the realm of a fairy tale land is something I loved very much,” she says.Ĭalderone’s own transformation from the fair Princess Fiona to the ogre Princess Fiona takes place on stage. Scott, like Taylor Calderone (Fiona) and Alex Price (Donkey), grew up watching the film and its sequels.Ĭalderone was a preteen when she saw the film and remembers taking to the movie’s contemporary take on old-world fairy tales. The whole process takes about three hours, but the actor won’t complain about the opportunity to play a role he was born to play. Oh, and before Scott puts on the makeup, he has to get into his costume. “When the paint is on, we get some darker green to add some shading, and then we go to the eyebrows and make those darker.” “After the ears are applied, we get into the green makeup and we’re talking about (applying it) from the top of my chest to the very top of my head. ![]() “It always starts with a clean shave and then I get the bald cap and we glue that down and then I attach the ears to the bald cap,” he says. The shaving becomes a routine when Scott has to don the paint. “The saddest part of the whole process is shaving the facial hair because I’m attached to my beard and even when I’m not doing promotions for the show, I am trying to grow it back at least for a little while,” he says. Scott will play Shrek the Ogre in the Main Stage Inc.’s production of “Shrek The Musical” on Friday and Saturday at the Kroc Center. “It always starts with a clean shave,” he says. Chris Scott’s transformation into the ogre Shrek is a lengthy and painful process. ![]()
